Maureen Denise McCormick was born on 5 August 1956 in Woodland Hills California the youngest and only daughter of Richard and Irene McCormick. Her family consisted of an aunt who worked as a housewife and a father who taught. Michael Dennis and Kevin are three of her elder brothers. Beginning at a very early age, McCormick loved to sing as well as dance. She would also present puppet shows to kids in the community. After winning her first Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest when she was just 6 years old, Pat Domigan called from Jack Wormser Agency to see if McCormick wanted to get involved in the industry of entertainment. McCormick got her first big task in 1964 when she starred in a commercial on television for Mattels latest doll, Baby Pattaburp. She did another commercial in 1964, for Mattels Chatty Cathy toy and soon was chosen to play the leading character on The Wind It Up and It Breaks, a play at La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick, which was chosen out of 200 auditioned kids, played the oldest of three double-headed daughters, in The Brady Bunch (1969) which starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed. The show ran for five seasons. In her autobiography Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice released in 2008, McCormick revealed that during the shows fifth season she nearly lost her virginity to her onscreen co-star and brother Barry Williams. The actress was only 16 when she was in the scene and he was just 19. The incident could have occurred, she stated, but the time wasn't right for us.
